Welcome to Newcastle Choral Society
Newcastle Choral Society was founded in 1954. It enjoys the patronage of Lord Beecham of Benwell, as well as the support of several local businesses. Further info in the Sponsorship and Friends sections
Membership is drawn from across the North East, with around 110 regular singers. We perform three major concerts each year from a repertoire that ranges from more traditional major works of sacred music to modern choral pieces in a variety of venues. The Past performances section has details.
The first concert in 2010-2011 season features Elgar 'Music Makers' and Fauré 'Requiem'. Details under Current Season and Performers

Musical Director, Mark Anyan, joined us in 2007. Mark is a professional tenor soloist and works extensively with youth choirs in this region and nationally. See his full biography under Musical Director. The choir is benefiting not only from his energetic vocal techniques, but is also enjoying new associations with young singers in both local choirs and up and coming professional soloists Mark knows though his own professional network.
Accompanist Eileen Bown has an active freelance career as soloist, orchestral pianist, accompanist and coach.
Future plans include performing a suite of African music with local youth choirs and an outreach programme to make choral singing more accessible to a wider audience and participants.
New members are always welcome, so if you are interested in singing a wide variety of music in a large choir under expert, friendly and fun direction come and join us. Details in the Membership section.
