Newcastle Choral Society, directed by Mark Anyan is respected as one of the leading large choirs in the region. The choir has developed a reputation for passionate and polished performances.

Our repertoire is varied, recent performances have included the Tyneside premiere of Karl Jenkins’ The Armed Man, Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Mozart’s Requiem, Elgar’s Dream of Gerontius and Haydn’s St. Nicholas Mass.

Our 2009/2010 programme included Karl Jenkins’ new work ‘Stabat Mater’ (a North East premiere) and ‘The Armed Man’ Choral Suite, Carl Orffs ‘Carmina Burana’ and a summer concert of Glorias the majority being staged in the Banqueting Suite at Newcastle Civic Centre. In addition we had a busy christmas when we performed at the Lord Mayor’s carol concert in the Mansion House, Jesmond as well as our traditional christmas concert with guest performance by Durham Cathedral Young Singers in the King’s Hall Newcastle University.

In the 2010/2011 season, we ventured into community outreach with a concert of world music including ‘Zimbe’ Songs of Africa by Alexander L’Estrange. This involved local children’s choirs and a jazz quintet.

In 2017, we engaged Alexander L’Estrange and his Call me Al quintet to perform Alexander’s ‘Ahoy Sing for the Mary Rose’. We were joined by massed choirs from south east Northumberland and Durham. Our Ambassador Michael Chaplin was the Narrator. We received funding from Community Foundation and the Hadrian Trust

For a fraction of the sponsorship cost of supporting a major orchestra (for example), a sponsor of the Newcastle Choral Society would benefit from being associated with one of the largest choirs in the region, giving regular performances with large orchestras in impressive concert venues in/around Newcastle such as the Sage Gateshead, King’s Hall within Newcastle University and the Banqueting Suite at Newcastle Civic Centre.

Sponsorship and donations enable Newcastle Choral Society to continue to promote concerts of the very highest standards. Part of this is meeting the ever-increasing costs of performing with large orchestras, renowned soloists and in impressive concert venues. If you, or anyone you know of, would like to make a donation or to sponsor Newcastle Choral Society, we would be very pleased to hear from you.

We offer a range of packages to cater for all budgets. Sponsors are offered the opportunity to support the choir on an ongoing basis. In return, we will offer you advertising space on our concert posters, programmes and on our website. In addition we will offer a predetermined number of complimentary concert tickets for you, your family and/or your clients. We will also offer priority seating for sponsors. All of our concerts are advertised widely in the local press and in and around our concert venue.

If your company is interested in hearing more about sponsorship opportunities please email enquiries@newcastlechoralsociety.org.uk to discuss the range of sponsorship packages that we offer.
